Terms of use

Last updated October 23, 2026. By using TaxLoonie (taxloonie.ca and taxloonie.com) you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Information, not advice

Our calculators and guides give estimates for general information. They are not tax, legal, accounting, investment or financial advice, and using the site doesn’t create a professional relationship with us. Check important decisions with the Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Québec or a qualified professional. See our disclaimer.

Accuracy

We check our figures against official sources and publish how we do it in how we check our numbers. Even so, rules change and mistakes happen, so the site is provided “as is”, without any promise that it is complete, current or error-free.

Using the site

The site is free for personal use. Please don’t copy large parts of it, scrape it in bulk, try to disrupt it, or present our content as your own. You may link to any page and quote short passages with a link back.

Embedding a calculator

You may embed our calculators on your own website with the code on our embed page, free of charge, as long as you keep the credit link to TaxLoonie that comes with the code and don’t alter the results. We may change or withdraw the embed at any time.

Links, ads and partners

We link to government and other outside websites, and in future some pages may carry labelled ads or partner links. We don’t control other sites and aren’t responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. Any agreement you make with a partner is between you and that partner. How we earn money, and the rules we follow, are set out in how we make money.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, TaxLoonie is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its results, including tax owed, interest, penalties or missed benefits. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.

Names and trademarks

TaxLoonie is an independent website. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of Canada, the CRA, Revenu Québec, any provincial government or the Royal Canadian Mint. Other names on the site belong to their owners.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use of the site means you accept it.
